Let me introduce myself!

Hi! I’m Felicia, and I’m the girl in the coffee shop talking about Jesus!

Truthfully, I wasn’t always a Jesus-loving Bible nerd. For fifteen years, I left my Bible on a shelf to collect layers of dust and eventually become buried under the clutter of other books. I loved to read—just not the Bible.

I accepted Jesus’s free and perfect gift of salvation at the age of seven, but by the time I was in my twenties, my faith was weak, and my theology was terrible.

I remember hearing my older sister gush about how much she loves Jesus, and I wondered why I couldn’t talk about my Savior with the same enthusiasm and sincerity.

The answer was simple: I didn’t know Him very well.

Bible teacher Jen Wilkin once said, “The heart cannot love what the mind does not know.”

I spent my whole life going to church on Sundays, yet up until I was twenty-two years old, I only had a single verse of Scripture memorized (John 3:16) and only knew a handful of Bible stories. Friends, hear me when I say this: a shut Bible is an open door for the enemy of our souls.

While in college, I compromised my saving faith little by little so that my beliefs were more compatible with the ideologies of my atheist friends and professors. I tried desperately to cling to two conflicting worldviews—one of a supernatural God and the other of a naturalistic philosophy—but the tension between the two became so great that a choice ultimately had to be made.

The drawing power of the Holy Spirit led me to the Word of God, where the answers had been waiting all along. And the more I read this amazing book about our amazing God, the more I grew to love Him—really, sincerely love Him because He had loved me all along, even when I only knew and believed one single verse of Scripture, even when I had failed to walk in the footsteps of my risen Lord.

My words began to change, my actions began to change, and my life began to look a lot different.
As I studied the gospels, I thought of those WWJD bracelets I wore in middle school. They were meant to remind wearers to ask themselves, “What would Jesus do?” Only, one can’t know what Jesus would do until they’ve read what Jesus has done. The more I read about my Savior, the better I knew how to follow Him and imitate Him.
